How do you define the stye of your wedding photography?
I would call it an “honest documentary” of the wedding day as it unfolds.
It is my hope that the images I create for each couple are not only sincere, but one that is evocative, and strikes a chord with each wedding couple.
How would you define a good wedding picture?
To me, a good wedding picture has to be meaningful.
That does not necessarily mean that it must be technically flawless or possess a picturesque background to qualify as one. Instead, it has to go beyond the perception of aesthetic beauty.
A good picture has to resonate with the wedding couple. Capturing a picture that depicts the closeness shared between a couple, is but one of many images that elucidates my belief in a good wedding picture.
Name a photographer that has deeply influenced you?
Mary Ellen Mark. She left a very deep impression. This was especially true after I attended her workshop in Oaxaca, Mexico (2006). You can visit her website (www.maryellenmark.com) to see her pictures.
What is the most important lesson you learnt from Mary Ellen?
Her joie de vivre spirit towards life is both inspiring and humbling. Having spent time in her company made me realize that this is one of the many reasons why I love wedding photography. To be a part of one of the most meaningful celebrations in life, is both an honor and joy that I thank each couple for.
And this will reflect in the pictures I take. |
